Match Preview: West Ham vs Chelsea
West Ham are expected to make personnel changes after a disappointing performance in the North East last weekend, with Callum Wilson in line for his full debut after only featuring from the bench last time out.
The midfield duo of Guido Rodriguez and James Ward-Prowse is unlikely to be repeated, meaning Tomas Soucek, Edson Alvarez, and Andy Irving are all pushing for starts. However, the Hammers remain without a replacement for Mohammed Kudus, while Crysencio Summerville is still sidelined. As a result, the attacking responsibility will once again fall heavily on Jarrod Bowen, who contributed 13 goals and eight assists in the Premier League last season.
Chelsea, meanwhile, continue to contend with defensive absentees. Levi Colwill is a long-term miss, while Benoit Badiashile and Tosin Adarabioyo’s setbacks left Josh Acheampong partnering Trevoh Chalobah at the back, with Wesley Fofana not yet fully fit.
In attack, Nicolas Jackson returns from a three-match suspension carried over from last season, but Joao Pedro is set to lead the line once again, having scored six career goals against West Ham – more than against any other opponent.
Elsewhere, Romeo Lavia remains unavailable after yet another minor setback, continuing a frustrating run of injuries since last season.
