Team News: Arsenal vs Atletico Madrid
Arsenal emerged from their trip to Fulham without any fresh injury concerns, although Piero Hincapié remains a slight doubt as he continues to manage a groin issue. The Ecuadorian defender returned to team training last week but was not deemed fit enough for the weekend and faces a late fitness test ahead of Tuesday’s clash.
The Gunners are still without Noni Madueke, Martin Ødegaard, Kai Havertz, and Gabriel Jesus — all sidelined with knee injuries. Meanwhile, Martin Zubimendi and Declan Rice must tread carefully, as both will be suspended for the matchday four meeting with Slavia Prague if they receive a booking on Tuesday.
While Mikel Arteta is unlikely to let that influence his team selection, Arsenal’s depth could see a few rotations. Ben White, Myles Lewis-Skelly, and Gabriel Martinelli are among those who could come into contention for starting roles as Arteta looks to manage minutes across a busy schedule.
As for Atletico Madrid, Diego Simeone’s side were handed a scare in their win over Osasuna, as Nico González was forced off just before half-time with a head injury. Fortunately, the 27-year-old has passed concussion tests and is available for selection, though he is not expected to start.
Giuliano Simeone — who replaced González at the weekend — is one of several options for the left flank, alongside match-winner Thiago Almada, Javi Galán, Matteo Ruggeri, and former Chelsea midfielder Conor Gallagher.
Johnny Cardoso remains sidelined with an ankle issue, while experienced centre-back Clément Lenglet returns to the squad after serving a suspension in La Liga.
