Malappuram FC vs Calicut FC: The Kerala Derby Lights Up Manjeri
Malappuram FC entered the contest brimming with confidence, having kicked off their campaign with an opening-day victory over Forca Kochi FC in the league’s inaugural fixture. Calicut FC, under the guidance of head coach Ian Andrew Gillan, arrived at the Manjeri Payyanad Stadium determined to claim their first win of the season after a spirited draw against Thiruvananthapuram Kombans FC earlier in the week.
The atmosphere inside the Payyanad Stadium was electric, as more than 15,000 passionate fans packed the stands to witness one of Kerala football’s most anticipated clashes. The Malappuram faithful, renowned for their deafening chants and unyielding devotion, turned the venue into a sea of color and noise. Not to be outdone, Calicut FC supporters traveled in strong numbers, adding their own energy to the carnival-like spectacle that unfolded under the floodlights.
