Team News & Fitness Update: Crystal Palace vs Tottenham Hotspur

Crystal Palace’s injury woes appeared to deepen once again after Chris Richards suffered a freak foot injury against Arsenal. However, the American defender, who required stitches, still has an outside chance of featuring this weekend. Eddie Nketiah is also a doubt after picking up a knock against his former club.

That said, Palace will definitely be without Ismaila Sarr (AFCON), Daniel Munoz (knee), Daichi Kamada (hamstring), Cheick Doucouré (knee), Chadi Riad (knee) and Caleb Kporha (back). Jean-Philippe Mateta continues to manage a lingering knee issue but played the full 90 minutes in midweek and is expected to lead the line again. The Frenchman will be confident against Spurs, having scored the decisive goal in this fixture last season.

Tottenham, meanwhile, will be without Xavi Simons, who begins a three-match suspension following his red card for serious foul play against Liverpool. Cristian Romero is also suspended for one game, although further punishment could follow due to a recent FA charge. Kevin Danso is expected to deputise in defence.

In attack, Richarlison, Wilson Odobert, Mathys Tel and Brennan Johnson are all contenders to replace Simons, but Richarlison is the frontrunner after scoring from the bench in last weekend’s defeat.

There are no changes to Spurs’ injury list, with Kota Takai (thigh), Dominic Solanke (ankle), James Maddison (ACL), Dejan Kulusevski (knee) and Destiny Udogie (thigh) all sidelined. Pape Matar Sarr and Yves Bissouma also remain unavailable due to Africa Cup of Nations commitments.
