Man United’s preparations for the clash with Wolves were disrupted by a late injury blow to defensive cornerstone Matthijs de Ligt, who was ruled out shortly before kickoff against West Ham. However, Rúben Amorim remains hopeful that the Dutchman will recover in time to feature against Gary O’Neil’s side.
Diogo Dalot is also expected to be passed fit despite taking a knock on Thursday, but Harry Maguire (thigh) and Benjamin Šeško (knee) are not due back until later this month.
There was at least one positive for the Red Devils, though, as Matheus Cunha made his return from a head injury in the West Ham showdown. The Brazilian now prepares to face the club for whom he recorded 21 Premier League goal involvements last season — yet he has managed just one since arriving at Old Trafford.
As for Wolves, influential midfielder João Gomes — recently linked with a move to Manchester United — will sit this one out after receiving a one-match suspension for accumulating five yellow cards.
The visitors are further hampered by a calf injury to Marshall Munetsi, the most natural stand-in for Gomes, meaning Jean-Ricner Bellegarde is expected to drop into a deeper midfield role alongside André at Molineux.
In addition, Ladislav Krejčí (knee), Fer López (adductor) and Hugo Bueno (back) remain doubtful and will likely face late fitness tests. Meanwhile, Rodrigo Gomes (groin), Leon Chiwome (knee) and Daniel Bentley (ankle) have all been ruled out.
