Arsenal received a boost on the injury front despite Declan Rice being ruled out shortly before kickoff on Tuesday night. The midfielder was seen smiling on the Emirates sidelines, and Mikel Arteta later downplayed the issue, expressing optimism that Rice’s knee problem will not prevent him from featuring at the weekend.
Goalscorer Gabriel is also expected to be available after appearing to suffer nothing more than cramp late on, while his return to the starting XI was one of several positives for the Gunners in midweek. Jurrien Timber, Kai Havertz and Ben White were all named in the matchday squad, providing further encouragement as Arsenal’s injury list begins to ease.
However, Cristhian Mosquera remains sidelined with an ankle issue, and Riccardo Calafiori is also unavailable due to an unspecified problem. Teenage prospect Max Dowman, who turned 16 on New Year’s Eve, is still recovering from an ankle injury and will not yet be considered.
Gabriel Jesus may have done enough to earn a starting role this weekend after making a decisive impact off the bench, achieving in just one minute what Viktor Gyökeres could not manage in 77 against Aston Villa. Aside from a possible change in attack, Arteta is unlikely to make many alterations to his side.
Bournemouth, meanwhile, have received reassurance over the availability of Antoine Semenyo. Despite speculation that the winger may have been playing his final match for the Cherries on Tuesday, Andoni Iraola has confirmed that the Manchester City-linked forward will be available to face Arsenal.
The visitors are less fortunate elsewhere, with Ryan Christie, Ben Gannon-Doak, Veljko Milosavljevic and Tyler Adams all ruled out through injury. Lewis Cook remains a doubt and will require a late fitness test after suffering a neck issue.
