Charlton Athletic will be without several key players for this clash, as Kayne Ramsay and Onel Hernandez are both sidelined with hamstring injuries. Josh Edwards (ankle) and Matty Godden (knee) also remain unavailable, further limiting Nathan Jones’ options.
Jones is expected to persist with his preferred system featuring a back three and wing-backs. James Bree and Tyreece Campbell are the leading candidates to operate in wide roles, while Lloyd Jones and Amari’i Bell should be joined in central defence by either Macaulay Gillesphey or Reece Burke.
In midfield, Sonny Carey — Charlton’s top scorer this season with five goals — will be pushing for a starting berth alongside Greg Docherty and Conor Coventry. Up front, Miles Leaburn and Charlie Kelman are likely to continue their partnership, providing physical presence and mobility in attack.
Chelsea, meanwhile, will also be forced into changes. Marc Cucurella is suspended after his red card in the midweek defeat to Fulham, while Levi Colwill (ACL), Romeo Lavia (thigh), Dario Essugo (thigh) and Mykhaylo Mudryk (suspension) all remain unavailable.
New head coach Will Still’s successor, Liam Rosenior, is expected to rotate the squad following the midweek fixture. Filip Jorgensen is set to come in for Robert Sanchez in goal, while Jorrel Hato is likely to deputise at left-back in Cucurella’s absence.
Rosenior faces a key decision in midfield, with captain Reece James and Moises Caicedo both options to operate in a deeper role alongside Andrey Santos. In attack, Joao Pedro could be handed the central striking role after an impressive FA Cup record, having been involved in seven goals (six goals, one assist) across his last four starts in the competition for Watford and Brighton. That form may see him selected ahead of Liam Delap to lead the line.
