Team News & Fitness Update

Tottenham Hotspur supporters could finally be in line for some overdue positive injury news. Head coach Thomas Frank is hopeful that Micky van de Ven will recover from the minor issue that ruled him out of the midweek clash with Eintracht Frankfurt.

Spurs are also set to welcome back a cluster of players who were unavailable for European duty, with Conor Gallagher, Yves Bissouma, Mathys Tel, Radu Dragusin and Souza all back in contention.

However, the injury list remains lengthy. James Maddison (knee), Mohammed Kudus (thigh), Dejan Kulusevski (knee), Ben Davies (ankle), Pedro Porro (hamstring), Lucas Bergvall (ankle), Richarlison (hamstring) and Rodrigo Bentancur (hamstring) all remain sidelined.

Midweek goalscorer Randal Kolo Muani continues to be heavily linked with a late January return to Juventus, but Tottenham are not believed to be entertaining an exit for the Frenchman. He could even be handed a start alongside Dominic Solanke in the attacking line.

For Manchester City, their midweek victory over Galatasaray came at a price. Jeremy Doku, who provided both assists, picked up a calf injury and is expected to miss Sunday’s trip to North London at the very least.

The Belgian joins Ruben Dias (hamstring), Josko Gvardiol (leg), John Stones (thigh), Mateo Kovacic (ankle) and Savinho (thigh) on the treatment table.

Despite those setbacks, City still receive a significant boost, with Rodri returning after serving a Champions League suspension. Antoine Semenyo and Marc Guehi are also back in the fold after being ineligible for European action.

Off the field, Pep Guardiola did not attend his pre-match press conference on Friday due to a personal matter, but the City boss is expected to be on the touchline at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Sunday
