Prediction and Preview

Chelsea 3 - 1 Psg

Paris Saint-Germain possible starting lineup:

Safonov; Hakimi, Zabarnyi, Pacho, Mendes; Neves, Vitinha, Zaire-Emery; Doue, Dembele, Kvaratskhelia

Chelsea possible starting lineup:

Sanchez; James, Fofana, Chalobah, Cucurella; Caicedo, Santos; Palmer, Fernandez, Neto; Pedro

Paris Saint-Germain will be without Fabian Ruiz and Quentin Ndjantou for the upcoming clash as both players continue their recovery from knee and hamstring injuries respectively. However, there is more positive news regarding Joao Neves, who has made good progress after an ankle problem that ruled him out of the last three matches. The Portuguese midfielder will undergo a late fitness test and could return to the squad on Wednesday.

Head coach Luis Enrique also faces a defensive selection decision. Club captain Marquinhos has been an unused substitute in PSG’s previous two matches, meaning the manager could either restore the experienced Brazilian to the starting lineup or continue with the promising centre-back pairing of Illia Zabarnyi and William Pacho.

In attack, Ousmane Dembele could be in line for a return to the starting XI. The French winger came off the bench in PSG’s recent Ligue 1 defeat to Monaco after missing three games due to a calf injury. Dembele has been one of PSG’s most productive players this season, scoring 11 goals, and he may join Desire Doue and Khvicha Kvaratskhelia in a dynamic front line.

Chelsea, meanwhile, are dealing with several absentees of their own. Estevao Willian and Jamie Gittens remain out with hamstring problems, while Levi Colwill continues his long-term recovery from an ACL injury. Mykhaylo Mudryk is also unavailable due to suspension.

There is a potential boost for the Blues in defence, though, as Wesley Fofana is expected to return from a thigh issue and could start alongside Trevoh Chalobah at centre-back.

In midfield, Enzo Fernandez and Andrey Santos are both just one booking away from suspension but are still expected to feature, likely partnering Moises Caicedo in the centre of the pitch. Cole Palmer could shift to the right flank if Fernandez operates in a more advanced midfield role.

Up front, Chelsea are set to rely on the red-hot form of Joao Pedro, who has scored 11 goals in his last 12 matches across all competitions. The Brazilian forward is likely to lead the line in place of Liam Delap, while Pedro Neto and Alejandro Garnacho will battle for a starting spot on the left wing.
