Arsenal vs Burnley Match Preview
The Premier League title race could finally reach its dramatic conclusion when Arsenal welcome Burnley to the Emirates Stadium on Monday night.
Arsenal arrive full of confidence after escaping with a huge win against West Ham United in one of the season’s most controversial endings. Deep into stoppage time, VAR overturned a late equaliser after officials ruled that West Ham forward Pablo had fouled goalkeeper David Raya during a chaotic corner sequence.
Leandro Trossard’s strike ultimately proved decisive, keeping Mikel Arteta’s side firmly in the title hunt. Arsenal now sit just two points behind champions Manchester City, and another victory could pile enormous pressure on Pep Guardiola’s men.
After a shaky spell between March and April, Arsenal have rediscovered their rhythm at the perfect time. The Gunners have won four of their last five matches and head into this clash on a three-game winning streak without conceding a goal.
History is also strongly on Arsenal’s side. The North London club have won every Premier League match against already relegated opponents since 1992, boasting a perfect 10-from-10 record in such fixtures.
Meanwhile, Burnley face an uphill battle simply to avoid finishing second from bottom. The Clarets ended a five-match losing streak with a respectable 2-2 draw against Aston Villa last weekend, but their away form remains alarming.
Burnley have collected only nine points away from home all season and possess the league’s worst defensive record on the road, conceding 45 goals in 18 away matches. They are also yet to keep a single away clean sheet this campaign.
Despite those struggles, Burnley striker Zian Flemming has been a bright spark. His goal against Villa took him to 10 Premier League goals for the season, making him only the fifth Burnley player ever to reach double figures in a single Premier League campaign.
Team News
Arsenal’s win over West Ham came with costly injury concerns. Defender Ben White is expected to miss the remainder of the season with a knee injury, while Riccardo Calafiori is doubtful after being substituted at half-time last weekend.
Jurrien Timber and Mikel Merino are also unavailable, meaning Cristhian Mosquera could continue in defence. Martin Odegaard is pushing for a starting role after an impressive substitute appearance against West Ham.
Burnley also have fitness worries. Hannibal Mejbri is racing to recover after being forced off against Aston Villa, while Jordan Beyer and Josh Cullen remain sidelined.

Prediction
Everything points towards a comfortable Arsenal victory. The Gunners are in strong form defensively and attacking with confidence, while Burnley’s away defensive record is among the worst in the division.
Burnley may create a few moments going forward through Flemming, but Arsenal’s quality and motivation in the title race should prove too much.
