Arsenal’s bench was strengthened at the weekend by the returns of Noni Madueke and Gabriel Martinelli, but neither Viktor Gyökeres nor Martin Ødegaard were deemed fit enough to feature. The pair—struggling with hamstring and knee problems respectively—remain major doubts ahead of Bayern’s visit.
The hosts are already without Gabriel Magalhães, who has succumbed to a hamstring issue, and Gabriel Jesus, sidelined by an ACL injury. Kai Havertz has also suffered a setback in his recovery from knee surgery and will be forced to watch from the stands.
In Gabriel’s absence, Bayer Leverkusen loanee Piero Hincapié delivered an outstanding performance in the North London derby and is expected to retain his place. With Arsenal preparing for a top-of-the-table Premier League clash against Chelsea shortly after, an unchanged XI appears likely.
Bayern, meanwhile, are obliged to make at least one change following Díaz’s dismissal against PSG. The former Liverpool forward has been handed a three-match Champions League suspension, ruling him out of European competition for the rest of 2025.
The blow would be even more damaging if Serge Gnabry were also unavailable, but Bayern are optimistic the ex-Arsenal winger will shake off the knee problem that kept him out of the eight-goal thriller with Freiburg. Jamal Musiala (ankle) and Alphonso Davies (knee) are both confirmed absentees, which could pave the way for a start for 17-year-old sensation Lennart Karl. The teenager became Bayern’s youngest-ever Champions League scorer earlier this season and backed it up with a goal and an assist at the weekend.
