Arsenal and Nottingham Forest Team News Ahead of City Ground Clash

Arsenal head into Wednesday’s semi-final with encouraging fitness updates, as both William Saliba and Leandro Trossard recovered from minor knocks to feature in the match. However, the Gunners will remain without several players for the coming weeks, with Piero Hincapie (thigh), Riccardo Calafiori (muscle), Max Dowman (ankle), and Cristhian Mosquera (ankle) all continuing their recovery programmes.

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta showed little hesitation in selecting an aggressive lineup against Chelsea, and the Spaniard is expected to name another strong starting XI for the trip to the City Ground. Rotation is more likely to occur in the club’s upcoming Champions League fixture against Inter Milan, which is expected to have limited impact on Arsenal’s European campaign.

Viktor Gyökeres strengthened his case for another start after producing a goal and an assist at Stamford Bridge, a performance that may see him retain his place ahead of Gabriel Jesus. Meanwhile, FA Cup hat-trick scorer Gabriel Martinelli is pushing for a recall, while first-choice goalkeeper David Raya could also return to the starting lineup.

Turning to Nottingham Forest, the hosts will be without Oleksandr Zinchenko, who is ineligible to face his parent club. The left-back has struggled for regular minutes this season, and reports suggest his loan spell could even be cut short during the January transfer window.

Forest do, however, receive a timely boost with Willy Boly and Ibrahim Sangaré returning to availability following their Africa Cup of Nations commitments. Captain Ryan Yates is also back in full training after recovering from a thigh injury and is expected to be fit for the weekend.

There are still absentees for the home side, as striker Chris Wood continues his rehabilitation from a knee problem. Goalkeeper John Victor is also unavailable after undergoing a minor operation on the same area, delaying his return to action.
