India vs West Indies, 2nd ODI – Match Preview
India head into the second ODI against West Indies at the Barsapara Cricket Stadium in Guwahati with a 1-0 series lead, looking to wrap up the three-match series. After a convincing eight-wicket victory in the opening game, the focus will now turn to whether India retain their winning XI or make changes ahead of the second contest.
West Indies made a strong start in the series opener, with their opening pair putting together a century partnership on a good batting surface. India, however, fought back through an outstanding spell from Kuldeep Yadav. The left-arm wrist-spinner claimed 4 wickets for 40 runs, triggering a collapse in the visitors' middle order and restricting West Indies to 295/7.
India's chase was considerably more comfortable. Shubman Gill and Virat Kohli produced superb centuries, combining effectively to take India to the target with 50 balls remaining. Their performances highlighted India's batting depth and gave the hosts complete control of the opening match.
With India now one victory away from securing the series, West Indies will need a much-improved all-round performance in Guwahati. The visitors will be looking to build another strong opening partnership while finding a way to counter India's experienced batting lineup and potent spin attack.
For India, the challenge will be to maintain the momentum from the first ODI. Another victory would give them an unassailable 2-0 lead, while West Indies will be determined to level the series and take the contest into a decisive third ODI.
