Brentford vs Liverpool: Team News, Injury Updates, and Predicted Lineups
Brentford will head into their Premier League clash against Liverpool with a few injury concerns, as head coach Andrews continues to manage a stretched squad.
Defender Aaron Hickey remains out as he continues to recover from a knee knock, joining Antoni Milambo (ACL) in the treatment room. Midfielder Josh Dasilva, who recently re-signed with the club until the end of the season, is also unavailable as he continues his recovery from a long-term knee injury.
Having previously opted for a back-five setup with wing-backs in tough fixtures against Chelsea and Manchester City, Andrews could retain the same approach against Liverpool. Keane Lewis-Potter will be pushing for a recall at left wing-back, while ex-Liverpool pair Caoimhin Kelleher and Jordan Henderson are both expected to start — the former in goal and the latter in midfield.
Up front, Igor Thiago, Brentford’s top scorer with five Premier League goals this season, should lead the attack once again. He may be partnered by either Kevin Schade or Dango Ouattara, depending on Andrews’ tactical preference.
On the other side, Liverpool have their own set of injury setbacks to contend with. Jeremie Frimpong is ruled out after sustaining a hamstring injury in the midweek Europa League win over Eintracht Frankfurt, while Giovanni Leoni (ACL) and Alisson Becker (hamstring) are also sidelined.
There is optimism regarding Alexander Isak, who suffered a minor groin issue against Frankfurt. Slot confirmed that the striker is “not too bad,” and a late fitness test will determine his availability. The same applies to Ryan Gravenberch, who sat out the European fixture due to a minor ankle problem but could return to the squad.
In midfield, Alexis Mac Allister, Curtis Jones, and Dominik Szoboszlai are all in contention, while Mohamed Salah’s form remains a concern — the Egyptian has gone seven Premier League games without a goal from open play. Florian Wirtz, who came off the bench to provide two assists in midweek, will be hoping to earn a place in the starting XI.
With both sides dealing with injuries but boasting attacking depth, the stage is set for an intense encounter at the Gtech Community Stadium, where Brentford will aim to frustrate Liverpool’s title ambitions.
